~ Basic Facts ~

I was born September 1, 1979. I am the next to the youngest of 12 offspring. Yes, you read it correctly, twelve. My parents had both been married previously, with 4 children and 2 step children on my father's side, and 4 children on my mother's side. I guess you could say, my younger brother and I were something of an, oops. But, at least I get the comfort of knowing he was the bigger oops of the two of us.

In case you're wondering, I've always been a little insane. I suppose that comes from being raised in the East Texas boonies. It also comes from having a mother try to raise you as an independent woman--while also being surrounded by "good old fashioned boys".

~ Star Trek ~

My main obsession has always been Star Trek, I got involved in it with The Next Generation when I was in 7th grade. It was the romance that pulled me in, the Riker/Troi Imzadi romance that is! Every week I tuned in just to find out what the heck was going on with those two! Then I was hooked, and there was no getting unhooked. But when TNG ended at the end of my Freshman year of High School, I was devastated. Here I was, a book-worm with few friends and overbearing parents, what else was going to keep me from going insane? Much to my surprise, a couple of friends of mine managed to get me involved in our school's Drama Club. I was incredibly shy, so they had to call in favors to convince me to do it with them. I was hooked after my first time on stage. It was because of the theater, that when Voyager first started in '95, that I missed much of the first season. I tried watching, but nothing really drew me in. That is, until I caught the first season episode, "Cathexis". J/C fans, you know the one... Chakotay and his out of body experience, Kathryn saying his name with the most delightful inflection, and last but never ever least, her touching his bare chest at the end! Oh what a shipper moment! Well, it had the desired affect on me, I sat up and went, (in the words of Scully, epi: "bad blood") "Whoa boy!" So I made a point of recording a few of the following episodes, sadly, no more J/C. So I tuned out again and turned matters to the Spring play productions.

It really wasn't until May of '96, I was watching "Resolutions" with my sister, because the preview had drawn me in. And half way through the episode, my sister (who had never seen a Voyager episode before that) comments, "Oh yeah, they're 'doing it' you just won't find out about it until the end." And I literally was like, "what did I miss? When did this happen!?" So I decided to go back and watch all of Season Two. Sadly no J/C, I was hooked. Well it was in September of 1997 that I got connected to the WWW. I had just turned 18, and was doing all kinds of cruising around trying to find info on my favorite show: Voyager. Granted, I wanted spoilers on Basics Part 2 because it was driving me NUTS! In the process, I came across J/C fanfiction. By October I had joined my first JetC list, and by December I was writing my own fanfiction. Finally I had an outlet for all the things going on in my head. It was, liberating, to say the least. By 1998, I was even managing my own JetCJr list, and had begun to learn some basic HTML skills, and had even put up my own website at Geocities to host my Fanfic. Over the years, the site has changed, as I have.

I suppose I should also explain my name. When I first started out in the JetC world back in 1997, I wanted a unique screen name. Something totally different from my real name (Jen). Well, I also happen to absolutely adore anything mythical related: Unicorns, dragons, faeries, etc. Some friends and I were discussing the "Pern" books one evening by Anne McCaffrey, and for some reason one of them dubbed me Kadith, even though in the book--he's a large bronze male. Despite that, I liked it, I also love the color green (its my fave!) so we found a nice little green dragon graphic to go along with my new persona. Since then, I have. shortened my screen name to just Kadi or Kadiluv as some call me. Well, thats about all I can think of to share (at the moment anyway). If you've made it this far, you're far more braver a person than I! But follow the links at the bottom for a better read if you'd like!

~ Cartoon Dollz ~

And that brings me to this latest change. Trek is no longer my only, major outlet or obession. Though, it is still at the top of the list as it was my first true love. I've decided to branch out. This past year, I began learning how to make cartoon dollz, I blame Mistress Sara for getting me hooked on those. In case you're wondering exactly what Cartoon Dollz are, you can check out the following sites for a definition:

~ Movies ~

Some, may be wondering about the design of this page. My two favorite actresses, and celebrity role models. Katharine Hepburn and Kate Mulgrew. I love old movies, and Hepburn is my favorite classical actress, as much for her wit and independence as for her talent. As someone who is trying to be a modern woman, Kate Mulgrew brought something to us that had never been done before. A female Captain in one of the most popular cult genres of our time (Star Trek: Voyager).

It's not hard, to have an appreciation of old movies, when you grow up in a household with older parents. I knew who Katharine Hepburn, John Wayne, and Jimmy Stuart were, long before I recognized the names of Tom Cruise or Julia Roberts. To this day, my favorites still remain those old classics.

Favorites Like:

  • The Philidelphia Story (Stuart, Hepburn, and Cary Grant)

  • Bringing up Baby (Hepburn and Grant)

  • Adam's Rib (Hepburn and Tracy)

  • McClintock (John Wayne)

  • Mutiny on the Bounty (Clark Gable and Humphry Bogart)

  • The African Queen (Bogart, Hepburn)

  • Little Women (Hepburn, et al)

  • Gone With The Wind (My all time favorite)

~ Books ~

I've always loved to read, early childhood favorites included "Wait Till Helen Comes" by Mary Downing Hahn. And of course, Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With the Wind", which I had read by the time I was in 6th grade. But early on, as I started my 7th grade year, my sister-in-law began sharing her romance books with me. Though, some would frown upon a 12 year old reading that kind of smut, it gave me something to do. While others were out causing trouble, I was curled up in my room with a Silhouette or Harlequin special edition.

By the time I was 13, I had graduated to the good stuff. I had gone through her collection of "smut" and was ready to start moving on to the actual romance fiction. Those early books included titles by, Jude Devareaux and Sandra Brown. My favorites by those two will always include (and I highly recommend):

  • Velvet Series - Jude Devareaux

    • Velvet Promise

    • Highland Velvet

    • Velvet Song

    • Velvet Angel

  • Knight in Shining Armor - Devareaux

  • Texas Trilogy - Sandra Brown

    • Texas Lucky

    • Texas Chase

    • Texas Sage

  • Where There's Smoke - Brown

  • Mirror, Mirror - Brown

However, toward the end of my High School career I discovered something wonderful. Nora Roberts. It was her extraordinary, "Montana Sky" that drew me in. I was completely hooked by it, and to this day I read it at least once every 3 or 4 months. Obsession? Definitely! That woman doesn't put out nearly enough books to satisfy me. And after working in 2 different bookstores, I'm positive I have everything she's ever had published! My favorites of her works include (and I highly recommend):

  • Montana Sky

  • Born in Fire

  • Born in Ice

  • Born in Shame

  • Homeport

  • Private Scandals

  • Public Secrets

  • MacGregor Books

    • MacGregor Brides

    • MacGregor Grooms

  • The Irish Jewels Trilogy

    • Jewels of The Sun

    • Tears of the Moon

    • Heart of the Sea

  • 3 Sisters Island Trilogy

    • Dance Upon Air
